TUCSON, ARIZONA – Time Market owner Peter Wilke purchased the former Scordato’s restaurant at 4405 West Speedway Blvd. in Tucson from Safari Development, LLC (Tracy Hardy, member) for $430,000 ($65 PSF).
Tari Auletta of Keller Williams in Tucson represented the seller and Kristy Kelley with Long Realty represented the buyer. Future plans for the 6,639-square-foot building on almost 2 acres are for conversion into a Time market.
Meanwhile, Tucson Foodie is reporting Wilke also quietly purchased Sam Hughes neighborhood's Rincon Market a day later. While Wilke plans to bring Time Market’s attention to detail and quality of curated goods, customers shouldn’t expect a “Time Market II.” Rincon Market is about 14,000-square-feet, while Time Market is about a third of the space at roughly 4,000-square-feet.
The market will feature organic and local produce, specialty groceries, fish, and meat. Additionally, customers can expect a quality coffee program and house-made pastries as some of the first noticeable changes, followed by a full specialty market and a comprehensive remake of the menu.
Fishmonger extraordinaire Yuri Rabayev is staying. Also, Wilke plans to develop the meat and charcuterie program to a similar level.
Last but not least, Wilke said Rincon will also have their own unique artisan bread program.
Since Rincon Market has been open a few years shy of a century (it opened in 1926), Wilke understands its value to the neighborhood.
“We plan to build on the great neighborhood support for Rincon Market,” Wilke said. “It’ll be a place for anyone who loves great food and beverages.”
Rincon Market is located at 2513 E. 6th St. More information about Time Market is available at timemarket.xyz.
