Experts to address new Federal administration, impact of minimum wage increases, rising interest rates, population gains and more
TUCSON, Arizona – Job growth in Tucson has hit its highest pace in four years. But how will changes proposed by the Trump administration, rising interest rates and significant increases to Arizona’s minimum wage impact job growth in the future?
These and other important economic questions will be answered during the University of Arizona Eller College of Management 2017 Breakfast with the Economists on Wed., May 31 from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the Westin La Paloma Resort, 3800 East Sunrise, in Tucson.
The event will help C-level executives, small business owners, financial managers, entrepreneurs and community leaders gain a better understanding of the local and global economic pulse and how it will impact the Tucson area in the coming months.
Presenters include George W. Hammond, Ph.D., director and research professor at UA Eller’s Economic and Business Research Center, and Federal Reserve economist Gary Wagner, Ph.D.
Together, they will discuss the latest economic data and share predictions for local job growth, new home construction, population growth, trade and export activity, rising interest rates, and the impact of a stronger dollar compared to the Mexican peso.
“Tucson is well positioned to grow in the next year, but there are some risks lurking beneath the surface that might cause a downturn,” Hammond said. “Gary Wagner and I will discuss these risks along with the opportunities for faster gains during the next year.”
