TUCSON, ARIZONA – NetStreit, a REIT from Dallas, Texas, recently bought the former Toys R Us store at 4519 N Oracle for $5.91 million ($133 PSF). Toys R Us closed in 2018 after filing  bankruptcy. and the 44,289-square-foot building is being converted into a Big Lots "Store of the Future".

The company plans to close its current location at 3959 North Oracle, at Oracle and Roger Road, and move into this new larger building across the street from the Tucson Mall. It will be the largest Big Lots store in Tucson and morphed from a close-out store to a furniture and department store that is "somewhere between Kohl's and Walmart." Big Lots is investing millions of dollars nationwide and has teamed up with NetStreit to open this "Store of the Future."

The store will reflect a new format for Big Lots, showcasing the Ownable and Winnable merchandise categories of Furniture, Seasonal, Soft Home, Food, and Consumables, and is part of a broader initiative to reposition the brand as a community retailer offering trustworthy value and friendly service.

The store opening is scheduled for mid-June.

Big Lots, Inc. is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, and a community retailer operating 1,428 Big Lots stores in 47 states. Big Lots supports the communities it serves through the Big Lots Foundation, a charitable organization focused on four areas of need: hunger, housing, healthcare and education.
