SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA – With the stay-at-home order in place, staff and family members of residents at LivGenerations Pinnacle Peak brought Mother’s Day joy to their loved ones last Sunday.

Mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers were treated to a parade, a “rolling buffet,” gifts and roses. LivGenerations Pinnacle Peak is an independent living, assisted living and memory care community with 116 residents at 23733 N. Scottsdale Road, in Scottsdale.

“It was a wonderful event not just for the resident but for the family members as well,” said Kelsey Conde, Director of Vibrant Living at LivGenerations Pinnacle Peak. “This is not what we originally planned, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed those plans. Still, we were all thrilled how it turned out.”

The parade featured about 40 vehicles completing a parade lap around the building, Conde said. With residents standing on balconies and looking out windows family members completed a second lap. Families held up signs (made by them) wishing their moms happy Mother’s Day, Conde added.

“At the end of the parade family members unloaded gifts for their mothers, sanitized them, and then delivered them,” Conde said. “Everyone honored social distancing. Our moms were able to see the parade; see their families – and thoroughly enjoyed it.

“It was a group effort. Our Executive Director, Dennis Scalpone, led the parade,” Conde said.

Another community, LivGenerations Ahwatukee, also honored its mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers with a “drive-through parade” on Mother’s Day, May 10. The Ahwatukee community is a senior living, independent living and memory care community at 15815 S. 50th St., in Phoenix, with 137 residents.
