PIMA COUNTY, Nov. 22, 2022 - Pima Animal Care Center is asking folks to “adopt ‘til you drop” at their Black Friday Special adoption event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25.
PACC is offering a variety of Black Friday-themed adoption incentives to draw attention to the shelter’s current need for adopters and fosters. Adopters will get a chance to pull a “Doorbuster Deal” prize from a shopping cart, and “Spotlight Specials” will feature extra prizes highlighting pets that have been in the shelter for an extended period of time. In addition, all pets are currently free to adopt. A $20 licensing fee does apply for adult dogs.
The shelter has been over capacity by 65-150 dogs all year, and there are currently 515 dogs and 122 cats at the shelter waiting to find adoptive or foster homes. Monica Dangler, Director of Animal Services, said that PACC staff are hoping that people will come to the shelter to meet some adoptable animals while they are at home during the holidays.
“We’re doing everything we can to encourage the public to foster or adopt dogs,” said Dangler. “Our incentives are a fun way to bring people to the shelter and get them interested in adopting, but the real gift is giving a home to a pet in need.”
While adoptions are currently the shelter’s biggest need, PACC is also encouraging the public to consider giving a pet a “home for the holidays” by fostering for as little as two weeks. PACC provides all supplies and medical care to fosters, and the first 20 people who foster a pet during the event will be given a blanket for the animal and hot chocolate for the person to ensure that they can have a comfy, cozy holiday season.
People who can’t attend the event, foster, or adopt can always make a financial donation to the shelter’s official nonprofit partner, Friends of Pima Animal Care Center.
The shelter’s hours will be adjusted to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate the Black Friday morning rush. PACC adoptions staff will be ready to meet potential adopters and help them find the best fit for their families. PACC is closed on Thanksgiving Day.
