PIMA COUNTY, (August 8, 2024) – Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) is hosting a Mega Adoption Event Aug. 10-11, featuring extended hours, free adoptions, giveaways, and more. This event, taking place at the shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road, is sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society, a leading national animal welfare organization based in Kanab, Utah.
During this weekend-long event, PACC will be open extended hours, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. In addition, free crates provided (as supplies last) to anyone who adopts a dog weighing 40 pounds or more, thanks to PACC’s nonprofit partner, Friends of PACC.
“We’re hoping to see our community come out in full force this weekend and help us find loving homes for many of our pets,” said Monica Dangler, PACC's director. “The great news is that with so many animals in our shelter, there are so many options to choose from, making it a sure thing that you’ll find your new best friend here at PACC.”
PACC currently has 529 dogs and 91 cats in the shelter and hundreds more pets in foster care looking for loving homes. The shelter’s dog kennels are full beyond capacity, with many kennels housing two or three dogs.
"Mega adoption events like this allow communities to come together and foster community support for incredible, adoptable animals, and local shelters," said Jessica Gutmann, Senior Strategist, Best Friends Animal Society. "Best Friends is happy to support PACC as they work to save even more animals and help bring about a time when there are no more homeless pets."
All pets – cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies - will be free to adopt during the Mega Adoption weekend. A $20 licensing fee applies for adult dogs living in Pima County. All adopted animals are microchipped, spayed or neutered, and up to date on vaccinations. To learn more about available PACC pets and services, please go to pima.gov/animalcare.
