Community members invited to learn about proposed Pima JTED bond projects, funding and impact on career and technical education
TUCSON, Ariz. (Oct. 15, 2026) — Pima Joint Technical Education District (JTED) will host a virtual community information session on Proposition 427, giving Southern Arizona residents an opportunity to learn more about Pima JTED’s proposed bond initiative, the projects included in the proposal and how bond funding would be used.
The two information sessions will take place Thursday, October 15 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, October 24 at 10 a.m. The event is open to community members who would like to learn more about Proposition 427, and JTED officials will be in attendance to answer questions about the proposed investments in career and technical education.
Proposition 427 asks voters to authorize Pima JTED to issue up to $250 million in general obligation bonds for capital improvements. Proposed uses include construction and renovation of educational facilities, industry-specific equipment, technology infrastructure, property improvements, and safety and security upgrades. Bond proceeds cannot be used for teacher salaries, textbooks or routine operating expenses.
Pima JTED reports that enrollment has increased 77% over the past five years. Limited classroom and training capacity has also prevented approximately 600 to 800 students from being served each year, increasing the demand for additional space and industry-standard training facilities.
“This information session is an opportunity for community members to better understand what Proposition 427 includes and ask questions directly about the proposed projects,” said Kenneth McGovern, CFO of Pima JTED. “We want voters to have access to clear information about Pima JTED’s facility needs, the programs included in the proposal and how the bond would be implemented.”
