TUCSON, Ariz. (Jan. 9, 2026) — SOLON Corporation has completed and energized an 8.75-megawatt behind-the-meter solar installation at Tucson Water’s Central Avra Valley Storage and Recovery Project (CAVSARP), which the company says is the largest known behind-the-meter solar project in Arizona.
The system was energized in August 2025 and delivered with no upfront cost to the City of Tucson, according to the company. Over the next 28 years, the project is projected to generate 514.42 GWh of renewable energy, reducing CAVSARP’s reliance on traditional power sources. The project is estimated to deliver $3,368,344 in energy savings over its lifetime.
“SOLON is thrilled to deliver this groundbreaking solar project that supports the City of Tucson’s ambitious sustainability goals,” said Brian Seibel, SOLON’s President.
SOLON Corporation has been recognized by Solar Power World magazine as the number one Commercial EPC Solar Contractor in Arizona.
The Top Solar Contractors List, developed annually by industry magazine Solar Power World, honors the work of solar installers in the United States.
“Solar projects in every market — residential to utility-scale — are getting bigger and oftentimes more complicated in scope, financing and permitting. That’s why it’s all the more impressive when so many top installation companies have banner years,” said Kelly Pickerel, editor in chief of Solar Power World. “The Top Solar Contractors List is a great gauge for how strong individual companies are in their local markets.”
“The Arizona and Southwest U.S. commercial solar market continues to expand as solar incentives have never been higher. More businesses, schools, and municipalities are taking advantage of the significant financial benefits of solar, and SOLON is well positioned to meet these expanding needs with our team of solar experts and in-house construction crews,” said Seibel. “SOLON’s #1 ranking is a testament to our team’s commitment to delivering solar projects on time, on budget, and as expected, with uncompromising safety and quality.”
