On behalf of Black Rock Coffee Bar, the Phoenix office of JLL has completed three leases as part of the company’s Arizona market entry. Black Rock’s first three Arizona coffee shops will be located in Chandler and Mesa, in the eastern portion of metro Phoenix. Each will offer specialty coffee beverages and breakfast and lunch options, delivered in a neighborhood-centric atmosphere. “Our teams are fueled by serving people,” said Black Rock Coffee Bar Arizona Regional Manager Bobby Kaufmann. “That makes every new store – and especially an expansion into an entirely new state – a true honor. We look forward to building our presence in Arizona, establishing quality connections with its residents and becoming a part of their stories.”

Black Rock Coffee Bar’s first Arizona locations are:

  •  4050 S. Alma School Rd. in Chandler (Alma School Road & Ocotillo Road), opening October 2016.
  • 5329 S. Power Rd. in Mesa (Power Road and Ray Road), opening November 2016.
  • 1150 S. Arizona Ave. in Chandler (Arizona Avenue and Loop 202), opening March 2017.

“Black Rock has selected three excellent locations for their Arizona roll-out,” said JLL Senior Vice President Tyson Switzenberg, who represented Black Rock Coffee Bar in its Arizona leases. “Each is a highly visible, free-standing or end-cap drive through location, in the heart of an active community and surrounded by popular retailers. They have successfully planted their flag in Arizona, with more locations to come.”  Based in Portland, Oregon, Black Rock Coffee Bar currently operates 32 company-owned and franchise stores in Oregon, Washington and California. It is expanding in each of these markets and expanding the Black Rock concept in other Western states via its three new locations in Arizona and two new stores planned in Idaho. In Phoenix, the company is still actively looking for additional locations, with plans to open several more stores in the Valley over the next 12 months. Black Rock store interiors feature an industrial, modern and clean aesthetic. Each location serves single origin coffee, roasted in small batches and medium to dark blends. In addition to coffee, Black Rock Coffee Bars offer local pastries, smoothies, drinks for kids, juices and blended coffee drinks.

Openings & Closings Around Tucson 10.31.14

Open ClosedWe don’t have any closings to report this week, but there are three new restaurants, a new downtown hair salon and a gun shop . To report an Opening or Closing in town, please contact the Real Estate Daily News at REDailyNews@outlook.com.

‘ABOUT ME HAIR STUDIO’ IS NOW OPEN DOWNTOWN
Downtown Tucson is reporting that About Me Hair Studio, the new full-service salon is now open on the ground floor at 1 E Broadway Blvd in downtown Tucson. ‘About Me Hair Studio’ is all about bridging the gap between low prices and high-end services. From the time they hatched their plan for a salon two years ago, owners Maria Sicre and Edith Gastelum wanted to bring their upscale background to people who might not be able to afford pricey Foothills salons. “We wanted to give the experience without the expense,” Sicre said.

Once they started checking into wholesale prices for their products, the former beauty school classmates realized they could give their clients a better deal than many salons offer. They do. Haircuts top out at $40 for women and $30 for men. With basic color or highlights, a complete hair makeover will barely cost you $100 at About Me. A full bridal up-do with makeup costs a maximum of $120.

At roughly 1,400-square-feet, the place seems huge. The entrance is on the south side of the building, which is mainly residential but also houses the headquarters for the Pima Association of Governments. Floor-to-ceiling windows face Broadway, giving ‘About Me’ a bright, open feeling. The main room includes a reception desk, a couch and chairs for waiting and five stylist stations. There is also a curtained waxing alcove and a small shampooing room with two sinks. It’s bigger than originally planned.

Ike Isaacson with CBRE in Tucson represented the landlord and Property Manager, Crystal McGuire with The Danmarben Group facilitated the transaction for the tenant.

Their five stylists and esthetician offer a complete range of day spa treatments – hair styling, lashes, waxing, deep-penetrating hair treatments, and makeup. About Me is open 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays; and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays. To make an appointment, call (520) 622-2110.
