TUCSON, AZ. (January 19, 2024) — The University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI) is pleased to announce the UACI Sponsored Launch Fueled by Spencer Fane LLP competition providing the winning startup team with resources, facilities, services and expert guidance to grow their business.

In alignment with its mission to grow scalable startup ventures that fuel the Arizona economy, UACI has teamed up with legal firm Spencer Fane LLP to support science and technology startup companies. The launch of the new competition is part of a growing collaboration between UACI and Spencer Fane.

The winning startup will receive one sponsored year of admission at UACI which includes a structured incubation program, customized business mentoring and the ability to work alongside other startups in a fast-paced environment. UACI provides the people, programming and place needed to successfully launch and scale a business.  Other tools the incubation program provides are office and laboratory space, assistance through a 28-point roadmap that helps them with everything from refining their business model to obtaining funding. In addition to one-year sponsored entry into UACI, the winning startup will receive legal services from Spencer Fane LLP.  The total package value is $16,800 and is funded by Spencer Fane.

Application submissions open on January 10 and close on February 2. Applicants must meet certain qualifications including having a startup team that lives or operates in Southern Arizona and can take advantage of UACI programming and space. The startup is pursuing an innovative solution to address a significant business or societal challenge. The startup has a strong overall commitment to commercializing its innovation and pursuing a scalable business model. The team is making a significant difference in our local and global communities through innovation.
