PIMA COUNTY, (May 27, 2025) – The Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department added three national awards to the trophy case recently, with three water reclamation facilities (WRF) earning platinum status.

Avra Valley WRF, Mt. Lemmon WRF, and Green Valley WRF all received the award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) for achieving more than five years of 100% compliance with Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) permits.

This marks the 21st consecutive year that the Green Valley WRF has been recognized for full compliance, the 17th year that the Mt. Lemmon facility has been recognized, and the sixth year for the Avra Valley facility.

“Our utility works tirelessly to ensure the safety and health of both the environment and our constituents,” said Jackson Jenkins, director of the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department. “These awards are the result of the hard work our team does every day to achieve our mission.”

In addition to the three Platinum Awards, the department received the Silver Award for Tres Ríos WRF and the Gold Award for Agua Nueva WRF.
