TUCSON, AZ (March 15, 2024) -- Trend Report inducted the 2023 Winners of its Best-in-Class Award this week. The award recognizes excellence in the commercial real estate community in Southern Arizona.
The second annual Best-in-Class Winners were paid tribute with a specially printed Trend Report “challenge coin” to recognize the fellowship and camaraderie within our commercial real estate community. The challenge coins were presented at a Happy Hour held at the Mountain Oyster Club on Tuesday evening, March 12th, sponsored by The Bain Law Firm of Tucson.
“It’s amazing what’s happening in Southern Arizona within our real estate community,” said Trend Report Managing Editor Karen Schutte. “This year’s Best-in-Class Award winners truly showcase excellence in commercial real estate sales and service to our community. We couldn’t be prouder of them for leading the way!”
This year’s class winners were as follows:
- Multifamily Sales (100+ units): Clint Wadlund and Hamid Panahi Institutional Property Advisors (IPA), a division of Marcus & Millichap;
- Multifamily Sales (under 100 units): Allan Mendelsberg and C. Joey Martinez, Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR;
- Residential Land Sales: Will White and John Carroll, Land Advisors Organization;
- Office Sales: David Volk, VOLK Company;
- Retail Sales: John Yarborough and David Carroll of Romano Real Estate;
- Industrial Sales: Stephen Cohen, Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR;
- Industrial Land Sales: Gary Emerson, GRE Partners;
- Commercial Land Sales: Pat Welchert, Alpha Commercial Real Estate Services;
- Hotel Sales: Rob Lamb, Long Realty;
- “Good Works” Developer: Humberto S Lopez, Co-Founder of HSL Properties.
Trend Report awards a challenge coin to the winners. Challenge coins date back to ancient times and have traditionally been used in the military and law enforcement. The coins have evolved to symbolize camaraderie with an organization over the years and recognition of a person’s service.
Challenge coins have outgrown the military and, today, have escaped into civilians' hands. It’s fascinating to see how such a simple concept as a coin has evolved into a meaningful and widespread emblem of tradition and honor, now included in our commercial real estate community through those recognized over the past two years.
As part of the tradition, members are supposed to always carry their coins and can “challenge” each other to present their coins anytime and anyplace. If the challenged person fails to do so, they are responsible for buying the challenger a beverage.
