PHOENIX, Arizona (Oct. 30, 2026) — Walmart held an October 29 ribbon cutting for its new 100,000-square-foot Pharmacy Central Fill facility in the West Valley, expanding a regional prescription processing network designed to give store pharmacists more time for patient care.

Located at 6600 N. Sarival Avenue, Suite 130 in Glendale, the facility is designed to fill up to 100,000 prescriptions daily and support more than 700 Walmart stores across 12 western states, according to the company’s event advisory.

The operation combines pharmacist oversight with automated equipment that handles prescription fulfillment tasks, including locating vials, counting pills, labeling, capping and sorting. Prescriptions are processed centrally to support participating retail pharmacies.

The Arizona location adds 250 new jobs, specialized in healthcare and logistics to the West Valley. Walmart’s current job postings include staff pharmacists, certified pharmacy technicians, and shipping and receiving employees.

Advertised annual salaries for staff pharmacists range from $85,000 to $150,000. Certified pharmacy technician listings show an hourly pay range of $24 to $37, while a shipping and receiving posting specifies starting pay of $18 per hour plus a $2 differential for second-shift work. Walmart has not provided a total facility employment figure in the materials reviewed.

Expanding Pharmacy Infrastructure

Walmart announced plans for the Arizona facility in May 2025, alongside another planned Central Fill operation in Republic, Missouri. The projects were part of a broader effort to provide Central Fill support to nearly 90% of Walmart pharmacies by the end of 2026.

The Arizona operation joins Walmart’s existing five-site Central Fill network.

The model shifts prescription processing work to regional facilities, giving retail pharmacists more time for counseling, immunizations and other clinical services. Walmart’s recruitment materials describe the Arizona operation as a facility that supports community pharmacies rather than serving patients directly.
