The visit was part of a concerted regional effort to attract and retain foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pima County and Southern Arizona. The visit focused on FDI initiatives and discussions around industry collaborations and opportunities in clean and renewable energy, manufacturing, and aerospace and defense, developing a closer relationship with Australia, and identifying potential areas of influence on complementary policy areas to strengthen our diplomatic and economic relationship.
Members from the Embassy included Amanda Wormald, Counsellor for Climate and Energy, and Cameron Hunter, Senior Research Officer in the Trade Branch for the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade. Regional partners included representatives from Pima County Economic Development, the Arizona Commerce Authority, the University of Arizona, City of Tucson Economic Initiatives, Tucson Electric Power, Sun Corridor, Inc., and Southwest Gas.
