PIMA COUNTY, (Aug. 7, 2025) – The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 Aug. 5 to immediately lift Stage II fire restrictions in unincorporated areas of the County.
The County’s Office of Emergency Management recommended ending the restrictions due to recent monsoon activity, higher humidity, and improved fire conditions. The recommendation is in alignment with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management and other federal land management agencies.
Stage II fire restrictions had prohibited campfires, wood or charcoal grills, consumer fireworks, and spark-producing activities like welding.
These rules applied to all County-owned properties, including parks, washes, campgrounds, RV parks, leased sites like Old Tucson Studios, and the Chuck Huckelberry Loop. They also covered more than 250,000 acres of County conservation lands, including trailheads, campsites, and picnic areas.
The Board initially declared a fire emergency on May 20, 2025, in response to widespread potential for wildfires across Arizona. That decision aligned with similar restrictions enacted on state and federal lands.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated on local fire conditions and restrictions by signing up for MyAlerts, the County’s emergency notification system.
