Shelter highlighting adoptable dogs for “Adopt a Shelter Dog” month

PIMA COUNTY – Pima Animal Care Center is gearing up for a busy fall season, this as October marks National “Adopt a Shelter Dog” month. As of Monday, Oct. 1, PACC had 390 dogs and 291 cats at its shelter.

In honor of “Adopt a Shelter Dog” month, which is celebrated by animal welfare organizations nationwide, PACC is reducing the fee to adopt a dog by 50 percent through Oct. 7.

In addition, PACC will participate in several upcoming community events where members of the public can meet adoptable dogs and learn more about PACC’s volunteer and foster programs.

  • SAHBA Home Show: Oct. 5-7 at the Tucson Convention Center
  • Tucson Meet Yourself: Oct. 12-14 near Jacomé Plaza (FREE adoptions for pets four months and up at the event)
  • Rummage to the Rescue: Oct. 27 at St. Marks United Methodist Church

To make sure the cats at the shelter are also getting some love, PACC is offering a special sale on felines. Through Oct. 12, people can adopt cats for just $5. This applies to all cats four months and up.

Come visit PACC’s pets in person at 4000 N. Silverbell Road. PACC is open Monday through Friday, noon-7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. All pets adopted from PACC will come spayed or neutered, with age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip and a free vet visit.
