PIMA COUNTY, ARIZOINA – The Southeast Regional Park Shooting Range is hosting a free introduction to shooting sports this Sunday, August 8.

The event, First Shots, gives novice shooters an opportunity to learn how to shoot handguns and rifles from certified coaches and experienced shooters.

“The goal is to teach individuals who are new to shooting sports how to handle and use firearms in a safe, effective and responsible way,” said Shooting Sports Program Director Cliff Gyves.

First Shots is organized by the WildGats, a collegiate shooting team for the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) at the University of Arizona, in collaboration with Pima County.

The event will be held at the Southeast Regional Park Shooting Range, located at 11296 S. Harrison Road. Sessions will be held at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.

In addition to the Southeast shooting range, Pima County operates two other rifle and pistol ranges, two archery ranges and a shotgun clay target center.
